Location

Located just 30 minutes South of our state capitol, within what has come to be known as the Tech Forest, Albany is centrally located in the Willamette Valley. Just over an hour from the Portland Metropolitan area, the Oregon Coast, and the Oregon Cascade Mountain Range. The local area boasts of a small yet sophisticated industrial and high tech community. The local climate is very mild, yet exhibits distinct seasons.

Working Conditions

Work includes making short-run, close tolerance complex parts for customers in industrial, robotic, automation, electronics, and wafer processing. Viper Northwest builds long-term business relationships through quality parts and superior service. Viper Northwest operates 2 shifts, providing quick turn work and enhanced customer service. The 18,000 sq ft work environment is safe, clean, air conditioned, and smoke free. Employees are required to have tools appropriate for the position.

Drafter
Basic Position Funcion(s):
 The basic function of Drafter is to draft detailed drawings of machinery and mechanical devices, indicating dimensions and tolerances, fasteners and joining requirements, and other engineering data: Reviews rough sketches and engineering specifications received from engineer(s). Drafts multiple-view assembly, sub-assembly, and layout drawings as required for manufacture of machined parts and equipment.
 
Other functions include:
 

  • Confers with engineers (and other drafters) to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinate work with others.
  • Makes detailed drawings, in accordance with customers' orders, to provide shop departments with accurate information for manufacture of structural and ornamental construction parts: Confers with customers. Makes freehand sketches of designs and drawings of approved sketches. Advises supervisory personnel on difficult or obscure problems.
  • Copies plans and drawings
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Associate's Degree in Drafting or equivalent work experience.  Able to work on multiple projects at any one time and establish priority among them regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.1-2 years of AutoCAD experience preferred, familiar with different machining techniques (mills and lathes), familiar with sheet metal fabrication (laser, water jet, CNC press), familiar with Microsoft office products, detailed oriented and self-directed.

CNC Entry Level
Basic Position Funcion(s):
Follow mechanical processes, product processes, and machining operation directions while completing pre-programmed prototyping and short-run, close tolerance complex parts for industrial robotics, automation, electronics, and wafer processing in a quick turn job shop environment.  Obtain and execute directions from your department Lead and/or Supervisor.  Provide on-time delivery of completed parts without compromising quality, safety, and equipment life.  Obtain approval prior to changing, editing, or updating any CNC programs, and maintain program log as required by management business systems.
 
 REQUIREMENTS:
Complete all required recording and reporting of Travelers, forms and documentation accurately and in a timely fashion to maintain the company's compliance and certifications of all management systems.
Required:  A want to learn and improve skill sets in the area of CNC Mills. Ability to learn schematics and/or drawings in order to produce parts that meet the specification of that drawing. Ability to accurately measure dimensions on parts that are being machined.  Preferred: Technical Degree in manufacturing and/or certification through trade college; or at least 6 months experience in a precision machine shop, with CAM experience.

IT Administrator
Basic Position Funcion(s):
The basic function of the IT Administrator is to establish, maintain and coordinate use of information systems company wide. 

Other functions include:

  • Recommend, source and submit for purchase, IT equipment and software.
  • Responsible for computer systems disaster plan.
  • Manage company website.
  • JobBoss administration
  • Coordinate repair and installations by outside contractors
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Quality Systems Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or, the equivalent combination of education and experience. Database design and maintenance required.  Ability to utilize query tools or report writing tools such as Crystal Reports to write original queries and reports and update existing ones.

Microsoft Certified Professional(MCP) in Windows Server/Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator(MCSA).

Prior experience producing and modifying web pages using HTML or other web authoring tools such as PHP.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a manufacturing environment  
Training in structured techniques, SQL or other database programming experience, and the ability to manage HTML development.
